The following describes a functionality that is implemented in the system.
| User Story ID | 14779 |
| User Story Name | Attach evidence to a Service Activity without leaving the record |
| Overview | Two buttons appear directly on the Service Activity form — next to Technician Diagnosis and next to Proposed Solution — letting a technician attach evidence without leaving the record. Each button is visible only when its Service has that evidence type enabled. Clicking the button opens your device's file browser right away — no extra window in between. The file you pick uploads automatically and is saved as a Related File on that Service Activity, already classified, with a confirmation message showing which file type it was saved as. Which buttons appear, and which file type each one applies, is configured per Service, so each service asks only for the evidence it actually needs. |
| How to Use it |
- Administrator: open the Service record and go to the Evidence Configuration section.
- Turn on Allow Attachment on Technician Diagnosis and/or Allow Attachment on Proposed Solution, as needed.
- For each one you turned on, pick the Default File Type that files uploaded from that button should get. Leave it empty and files will still upload, just without a type.
- Save the Service.
- Technician: open a saved Service Activity for that service. The enabled buttons appear right on the form, next to Technician Diagnosis and/or Proposed Solution.
- Click the button - your device's file browser opens immediately. Pick the photo or document.
- The file uploads automatically. A confirmation message shows which file type it was saved as, and the file appears in Related Files for that Service Activity, already classified. Repeat as many times as needed.
- Files larger than the allowed size are rejected with a message next to the button, so you can pick a different one.
- The Related Files section still works the same way for anything that does not fit the configured types.
